Out Where The Wind Blows

I have made it a habit for years to go for early morning walks in an effort to orient my day towards God. Getting out of the house and under the canopy of the open sky reminds me that I don't want to live my life hemmed in by the limits of a world I have constructed. Instead I want to embrace something of the wildness of the creation. Out where the wind blows reminds me of what it means to life our lives in the freedom of the Spirit of God. If we want to be led by God the first step is to enter into his domain.  Often when I round a corner and feel the freshness of the early morning wind in my face I am reminded of Jesus' words to Nicodemus. "The wind blows where it wishes, you hear it sound but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So too is everyone who is born of the Spirit." Blow Spirit blow!

Below you will find an audio file of a sermon I preached that builds on this theme.

This page is dedicated to thoughts that arise out of my early morning reflections.
